Jane Harman

 

Jane studied drawing and painting at the School of Fine Arts in Glasgow in Scotland.
She has won several scholarships (the John Kinross Memorial Fund, Edinburgh, in '83; Greensields the Elizabeth Foundation, Canada, in '85; specialization in lithography to Bison, Florence in '87) that allow her to travel the world and hone technical studies and expertise, in '88 he moved to Florence .
the passion for the ’ antiques, wood and handicrafts of quality moved her to knock on the door of Henry Sarti, son of Art restorers Experts and his future master. He learns the ‘ the workshop secrets ’ handed down from generation to generation. After several years of apprenticeship he inherited the shop and started his own.

Work today in the heart of San Frediano neighborhood in Florence.

Not only it carries out its activities in the shop but she’s available for general maintenance of the mobile home in residences, villas and hotels.

Conservation and restoration of wooden works and antique furniture in solid wood, veneered and veneered. woodworm treatment. Restoration of furniture painted and lacquered. Polishing feather-brush and wax coatings. Using traditional materials and techniques so compatible and of survivors to original.

Maintenance furniture at home and hotels.

Restoration and wall decoration in collaboration with Restaurodecorodipinti by Jemima Taylor.

When needed Jane is available to perform demos polishing spirit introducing the painting method for fine furniture (with detailed explanations from the preparation of shellac, all use of pumice powder, to colorants for wood and feather-brush).

Drawings
 

The drawings in showcase are part of its portfolio. They are primarily made in the nib with ink and water crayons. It also works on commission.

Paparella published in 2015 by Nicomp L.E. with the support and collaboration of Association OMA (Observatory for arts and crafts), Association Via Maggio , traditional Historical Association Exercises and typical Fiorentini.

Artistar Jewels is the annual event that offers contemporary jewelery at the international level: participants are selected for their high artistic value, technical experimentation and stylistic research of its work. Some pieces of Wood&cut collection, were choosen for the edition of 2017, with subsequent publication in the contest catalog ("Artistar Jewels 2017 - The Contemporary Jewel as never seen before" p 368-369) and on artistars jewels's official website.
The pieces selected were the series "Dark Drops" and the ring "Cluster".

 

News magazine The Florentine is the publishing project in English, which since 2005 is responsible for the promotion and dissemination of news and events related to the Tuscan capital. Published in more than 10,000 monthly copies and also distributed in New York, the Florentine enjoys a large international audience. In April 2017, in the lifestyle section is an article titled "four foreign women entrepreneurs in Florence, Italy" by Emmy Yoshidao, which includes the list Jane Harman Restoration .
